Primavera Sound Barcelona
For 25 pence and without googling it, what artists have played at three Primavera Sounds in a row apart from Shellac and DJ Coco? Surprise: one of them is Antón Álvarez, aka Puchito, aka C. Tangana, aka the man of the year in urban Spanish music. At the 2016 edition he debuted his first great hit, Antes de Morirme, together with Rosalía. In 2017 he came back with Agorazein, his regular band, whilst he conscientiously prepared his definitive solo ascent. In 2018 he is back because he has to be there, because few phenomena coming from the bottom have managed to penetrate the collective Spanish imagination with such force. His album, Ídolo, is a double edged sword with just the right concessions (rap, trap, pop, reggaeton) which celebrates and contradicts everything that Antón has become.
